Biographical sketch Kwangchul Choy, DDS, MS, PhD, is a former professor of orthodontics department at Yonsei University. He graduated and completed orthodontic training at Yonsei University and has been a research fellow and a visiting professor at University of Connecticut. Currently, clinical professor at Yonsei University as well as an adjunct professor of orthodontics at Ewha Womans University. He published a book, The Biomechanical Foundation of Clinical Orthodontics and over 30 papers and book chapters in the field of biomechanics. He has carried out clinical and scientific research in the biomechanics of tooth movement and orthodontic appliances and carries out many lectures on biomechanics and maintains a private practice in Seoul.

In some cases, orthodontic treatments don't follow the expected outcomes due to individual biological variations, despite precise treatment planning and meticulous design of the appliance. These complications can't always be resolved through technical skills alone; a deeper understanding of fundamental biomechanical principles of tooth movement is required. Particularly on Day 2, the focus will be on achieving root movement, which is challenging with aligners. Participants will learn the fundamental principles behind root movement and practice these techniques to better apply biomechanics in clinical settings.
